Elle and Matthew's fall wedding at Southwood Estate in Germantown, New York is the kind of day I live for as a documentary wedding photographer. Set high above the Hudson River with sweeping views across the valley and into the Catskill Mountains beyond, the property has a quiet grandeur that asks nothing of you except to be present, which is exactly how Elle and Matthew showed up.

The ceremony took place at the river's edge as early autumn light filtered through the surrounding trees, warm and golden in that particular way that only happens in October in the Hudson Valley. The reception that followed felt like a dinner party among the people they love most — intimate tables, rich seasonal florals, and the kind of laughter that fills a room and stays with you.
