A Roundhouse Beacon Wedding

There's a certain kind of light that only shows up in September. Warm but no longer heavy, the kind that turns Beacon gold by late afternoon. That was the light Lauren and Jonathan got married in.

Their wedding day at The Roundhouse Beacon had a pulse to it. These two are young, easy with each other, and unmistakably in love in that effortless way, the kind where the room lights up a little just from them standing next to each other. Their energy set the tone for everyone around them: friends laughing, while the dress went on, a groom who couldn't stop smiling before he'd even seen his bride.

What struck me most, though, was the family. Lauren and Jonathan both come from blended families, and yet there wasn't a trace of tension anywhere in the day. Instead, there was warmth, real warmth, the kind you can't stage for photos. Parents and step-parents stood shoulder to shoulder, cheering the same two people on, proof that a family can grow more complicated and still show up whole for the moments that matter.

Heritage ran through the entire day. The ketubah signing was the moment that stayed with me, the room was quiet, and for a few minutes it wasn't a wedding timeline anymore, just two families, generations of them, watching a promise get written down in ink. It's one of my favorite parts of documentary wedding photography: the moments nobody choreographs, the ones that happen because they mean something.

The ceremony itself unfolded inside The Roundhouse's glass-walled great room, waterfall views spilling in through the windows behind the altar, a backdrop that does half the work for a Hudson Valley wedding photographer, honestly. Under the chuppah, tallit draped over shoulders, tradition and love sat right next to each other. By the time Lauren and Jonathan were pronounced married, their whole crowd was ecstatic.

Lauren and Jonathan's wedding is the kind of day I love documenting most: young, vibrant, deeply rooted in family and heritage, and completely unafraid to feel everything out loud.
