Carrie + Joe Published Feature in Alexandra Grecco | NEW YORK CITY (NYC) WEDDING AND PORTRAIT PHOTOGRAPHER.
Carrie and Joe knew Southwood Estate, overlooking the Hudson River, was the perfect spot to represent both their NYC and upstate life.
The couple splits their time between Brooklyn and the Hudson Valley and wanted their wedding to show off the beautiful area to friends & family.
Guests were welcomed with champagne, rosé, and Negronis, as they gathered on benches and vintage chairs in the woods. The ceremony was created by the couple’s siblings, including a reading from their parents’ wedding and a rendition of Radiohead’s ‘True Love Waits’.
Afterwards, Joe carefully selected his favorite spirits for a Whiskey Lounge, and guests were on the dance floor all night long.
in her own words…
“Joe & I were introduced through a mutual friend. Our first date was in the West Village over dinner & old-fashioned’s. We ended the night at Joe’s favorite dive bar, where he curated a full Ryan Adams playlist on the jukebox. We spent the next couple of years attending concerts, traveling, and visiting our families on the West Coast.
On December 30th, 2017, we were up in Chatham, NY. We had just learned our offer was accepted on a home in Hudson Valley. Joe spent 4 hours (in 8 degree weather) digging through the snow where I had dropped our car keys, while playing fetch with our dog. Afterwards, he asked me to be his wife! We found the keys just before dark, and I still can’t believe he trusts me with a diamond ring.”
THE IRIS FLORAL GOWN | Carrie always thought wedding gowns were too over-the-top, and never really had a vision of what style she wanted. She only knew she wanted a gown that didn’t look like any others she’d seen before.
“When I put Iris on, I felt like someone had finally created my perfect dream gown. It had just enough detail to make it unique, but the lines were clean and feminine. This dress, with the blush/champagne tones, became the color palette for the entire wedding.”
