I’ve been photographing weddings for over 20 years! I began my journey studying photojournalism, Before that I worked in the hospitality industry. I worked for and with wedding venues, restaurants, wedding planners and caterers. My background in journalism and hospitality allows me to blend a candid, storytelling approach with a keen eye for special moments. I shot my first wedding with film, and continued exclusively with film until 2007, when I transitioned to digital photography. And yes, I still use film.
In your opinion what can a couple do to make their wedding day great?
A wedding day feels truly great when the couple remembers why they’re there, to get married. The best weddings are the ones where couples are present, grounded, and genuinely connected to the people they love. They’re not trying to cram fifty moments into a single hour or chase every TikTok trend, Instagram reel, or Pinterest board idea at the expense of real connection.Lately, I see how easy it is for the focus to shift toward creating content instead of experiencing the day. What I always tell our clients is this: slow it down. Take your time getting ready. Consider a first look and family portraits before the ceremony so you’re not rushed. Actually enjoy your cocktail hour. Stay together while greeting guests. Let the day unfold naturally.
The most meaningful weddings aren’t made for social media, they’re made for the couple, their families, and the once in a lifetime feeling of being surrounded by love. When you give yourselves permission to be present, everything else falls beautifully into place.
Why do you like photographing weddings?
Because weddings are powerful, unpredictable, beautiful, emotional, and full of surprises. They’re one of the few days where everything that matters is right at the surface: love, nerves, joy, grief, history, hope. No two weddings are ever the same, and no moment can be repeated. I love moving through that energy, quietly observing, anticipating what’s about to unfold, and preserving it honestly. Photographing weddings means bearing witness to something real and fleeting, and turning it into something that lasts.
Why don’t you show your prices?
Every wedding is unique. A local, intimate February celebration with 30 guests is very different from a 300 guest destination wedding in June, and it wouldn’t make sense for them to be priced the same.
We photograph weddings of all sizes, seasons, and styles, and we truly love them all. Rather than offering one size fits all pricing, we take the time to understand your plans, priorities, and vision. This allows us to create a photography experience, and an investment that feels thoughtful, fair, and perfectly suited to you.
Our goal is never to “scare anyone away,” but to make sure what we offer aligns beautifully with what you actually need.
How do we know if you're the right photographer for us?
You’ll know we’re the right fit if what matters most to you isn’t just how your wedding looks, but how it feels. Our approach is rooted in trust. We work best with couples who want to actually experience their day, not rush through it, not perform it for social media, and not feel pulled in a dozen directions. If you value connection over trends, and moments over manufactured poses, we’re likely aligned.
If you’re drawn to photographs that feel honest and layered, images that hold emotion, movement, quiet, and imperfection, then you’ll probably recognize yourselves in our work. We pay attention to the in-between moments as much as the big ones, because that’s where the day truly lives. (Give yourself enough space for those moments.)
And finally, you’ll feel it in the relationship. If you want photographers who guide when needed, disappear when possible, and genuinely care about the experience you’re having, not just the images we’re making, then there’s a good chance we’re your people.
How would you describe your photography style?
Our style is a direct reflection of you as a couple. It’s all about capturing your personality, vibe, and vision. If you're adventurous and want a cliffside wedding overlooking the Atlantic, that's the kind of story you’ll have. If you're having an elegant celebration on Park Ave, that’s the essence we’ll capture. If you’re having a light and bright wedding in the summer, that’s what your photos will represent. If you’re into Wes Anderson, and incorporate his color schemes and styles into your wedding, we’ll capture it!
Our style is real, and mostly unscripted. With all that being said, wedding photographers wear many hats. Sometimes I’m a portrait photographer, other times a family photographer, most of the time a documentary photographer. It varies throughout the day
I (Kim) have a journalistic background, so I’m trained to capture those raw, unscripted moments, like the quiet glance or the spontaneous laugh. At the same time, I understand when a more posed or directed shot is needed. I will add that above all else I (Kim) am a purist. I dont have a big bag of tricks and don’t rely on filters to enhance a photo. I do like things as they are.
How many photos do we we receive?
Typically 80-100 per hour of coverage. However, I have a really hard time deleting photos. If there is a person in the photo, you’re Probably going to see it. The image has to be really wonky for me to delete it. This might mean a few more than you were expecting, but I never want to be in the position of wishing I didn’t delete a photo. In 5, 10 or 20 years that photo may become very important.
What makes your photography unique?
My eye, but we also embrace versatility and creativity. Every wedding is different, and we approach each one with the mindset that we can’t predict the light, the emotions, or the unexpected moments—but we can be ready for them. Our goal is to document your day in a way that tells your unique story, from the smallest details to the big moments.
What makes you different from other photographers?
Our eye, combined with our extensive industry experience.
Have you photographed at our venue before?
Maybe. However, whether a photographer has shot at a specific venue is not as relevant as you might think. What matters most is the photographer's style and ability to adapt. Look at their portfolio. Do the couples look happy and comfortable? Are the photos timeless rather than cliche? We’ve photographed in every imaginable scenario over the past couple of decades. Also, keep in mind that every wedding location that we have photographed at…was at one time our first time working there.
How would you describe your approach on the wedding day?
We are a friend, confidant, and spectator. Our curiosity makes us great documentarians. Above all, this is your wedding day, and the day revolves around you, your ceremony, and your interactions with loved ones. While we take our role seriously, we also embrace the fun and laughter of the day, capturing every meaningful moment.
Do you shoot in digital or film?
I’m a hybrid photographer. Many photos on our website were shot with film, which is where I started and what I continue to love.
Do you shoot in color or black & white?
We shoot in color but provide you with a copy of all final images in both color and black & white. Occasionally, some photos will be exclusively black & white due to lighting or other factors. If I use black & white film, those images will only be available in that format.
Can we give you a shot list?
The short answer is no. Experienced photographers instinctively capture essential moments like the ceremony, kiss, and cake cutting. However, we do create a tailored list for immediate family group shots to ensure no one is missed. Keeping your day focused on real moments rather than staged shots is our priority.
We already have a planner to construct the photo timeline.
Photographers are best suited to create timelines from arrival through formal photos or ceremony. We understand timing in ways that ensure the best photographic results. When we compose your timing, we take things into consideration that anyone else would have no idea of. (Unless they’re a wedding photographer)
We’re very busy, so we’d like our planner/friend/family member to reach out to you.
We prefer direct communication with you as a couple. Building a connection with you helps us capture your day authentically.
Do you provide video?
We specialize in still photography but, can recommend talented cinematographers who align with our approach.
Who will shoot our wedding?
Kim and Barry—we will both be there to document your day.
Do you have backup equipment?
Absolutely. We carry multiple camera bodies, lenses, and backups for everything to ensure we’re prepared for any scenario.
What happens if you don’t show up?
In over 20 years, this has never happened. In a worst-case scenario, we would do everything in our power to find a replacement photographer. Your wedding is a priority to us, and we have a network of trusted professionals we can contact if needed.
What if it rains?
Rain can create stunning photo opportunities! We’ve found that even on rainy days, there are breaks to capture beautiful outdoor shots, and the lighting before and after rain is often magical.
Do you have liability insurance?
Yes, we do.
Can we see a full gallery?
Yes. Each season, we request permission from one couple to share their full gallery.
Do we get the copyright?
You receive printing rights, allowing you to print photos and share them on social media with credit. Copyright remains with us. Any Vendor/Venue request for images needs to be in writing to us.
Are all images retouched?
Yes. Every photo is reviewed for color, lighting, and detail, ensuring blemishes and distractions are removed.
When will we receive our photos?
We guarantee delivery within 30-45 days
Where can we see reviews?
Our reviews are available all over the web, and you can also find them on our website.
